  1.                        WHAT IS SHAREWARE?

  3. Shareware is one of the best features of the personal computer
  4. revolution. It is distributed freely over electronic bulletin
  5. boards, or sold through shareware catalogs for the cost of
  6. duplicating the disks.
  7.  
  8. Shareware is not free. Purchasing the disk is not the same as
  9. purchasing the shareware material. If you use shareware, you are
  10. expected to send the author the requested fee. Shareware offers
  11. you the opportunity to "try before you buy".
  12.  
  13. Some shareware is written by authors who make their entire living
  14. creating shareware, and can cost a good deal of money when you
  15. register. Other shareware, like the material on this disk, is
  16. created by users of a particular program to enhance or bring out
  17. all of the features of that program, and is made available at
  18. nominal cost to other users. 
  19.  
  20. The material on this disk is copyrighted, and may not be copied
  21. or sold for profit, except to be passed on to other users as
  22. shareware. It may be copied and distributed by shareware
  23. distributors, but no fee other than the standard shareware fee
  24. for other disks sold by that company may be charged.

  26. If you find that you like the material on this disk and use it
  27. regularly, I suggest that you make a contribution of $10 to the
  28. charity of your choice. My personal favorite is Friends United
  29. Meeting, a Quaker organization which for educational, peace
  30. and missionary efforts. Contributions to FUM are tax-exempt.

  39. material on this disk. I'm not offering any other documentation
  40. or automatic upgrades, since I'm not a full-time shareware author
  41. but mainly a computer user like yourself.

  43. I highly recommend that you read all of the documentation (.DOC
  44. files) on this disk before using the macro and keyboard files. It
  45. would be a good idea to make a backup copy of this disk, and
  46. especially if you do any tinkering on the macros and keyboard
  47. definitions.

  49. You can tinker and adapt the material on this disk to suit your
  50. needs, but please do not distribute your altered versions without
  51. proper notification, or my documentation may not match the
  52. changes you've made!

  54. All of the information on this disk is accurate as I have been
  55. able to make it as of July 1990. Used properly (or even
  56. improperly), there shouldn't be any chance for you to injure your
  57. system, or even to lose too much data. However, no liability is
  58. assumed by the author for anything you do to louse things up on
  59. your own, nor is any liability assumed by the WordPerfect
  60. Corporation for anything not recommended in their manual.

  72.                  INTRODUCTION TO THIS COLLECTION

  74. Most people who use WordPerfect products are aware that they are
  75. well-designed, powerful tools for computer users. If you spend
  76. some time with the documentation, you'll find all kinds of
  77. features which can make your work easier or better.
  78.  
  79. Not everyone has the time or the perseverance to discover all of
  80. the features of WordPerfect's programs. This disk will give you a
  81. fast start towards becoming a "power user"!
  82.  
  83. This disk is intended to be used with the new WordPerfect 5.1
  84. word processing program. Using the material on this disk, you
  85. will be able to do all kinds of things, including:
  86.  
  87.      -    starting a letter, including letterhead, date, and
  88.           address with only 7 keystrokes
  89.  
  90.      -    control most formatting features with only two
  91.           keystrokes
  92.  
  93.      -    call up a time check in the middle of your document
  94.  
  95.      -    check frequently-used phone numbers
  96.  
  97.      -    call up reminders of frequently-used macros
  98.  
  99.      -    pop up calendars for 1990-1995
  100.  
  101.      -    control font attributes with only two keystrokes
  102.  
  103.      -    access hundreds of characters in the WordPerfect
  104.           Extended Character Set easily (with WordPerfect 5.1,
  105.           these can all be printed on any dot-matrix or laser
  106.           printer!)

  108.      -    manipulate text in new ways you've never thought of
  109. Documentation for the macro files is located in a file named
  110. MACRO.DOC.

  112. WordPerfect also allows the use of "alternate keyboards", in
  113. which you map functions, character keys or entire macros to
  114. different keys on your keyboard. Seven brand-new keyboards are
  115. included on this disk.

  117. The keyboard files have a .WPK extension; the documentation file
  118. for them is WPK.DOC.
